Steph Curry Sought Input from Draymond Green and GM Before Jimmy Butler Trade

Steph Curry Had Concerns About Jimmy Butler’s Locker Room Fit Before Trade

The Golden State Warriors’ trade for Jimmy Butler has been a resounding success, with the team going 12-2 since his debut. However, it’s been revealed that Steph Curry had initial concerns about Butler’s fit in the locker room.

Multiple reports circulated before the trade that Curry wasn’t sure about Butler’s compatibility with the Warriors’ team culture. Even head coach Steve Kerr shared similar sentiments. At the time, Butler was publicly feuding with his former team, the Miami Heat, in an attempt to force a trade.

Curry recently addressed these concerns in an interview with 95.7 The Game. While he didn’t directly confirm or deny the reports, he acknowledged being aware of them. “I hear everything, and you try to filter through everything, too, to know what’s real and what’s not,” Curry said.

To alleviate his concerns, Curry sought input from teammate Draymond Green and general manager Mike Dunleavy. Both spoke highly of Butler, which helped ease Curry’s worries. Dunleavy, in particular, had firsthand experience with Butler during their time together in Chicago.

Curry admitted that he was initially upset when the trade went through, primarily because the Warriors sent away Andrew Wiggins as part of the deal. However, any reservations he had quickly dissipated once Butler took the court.

Butler’s impact on the team has been significant, and Curry has been impressed by his new teammate’s professionalism and work ethic. “When you get locked-in Jimmy, it’s the absolute best, and it’s our job, collectively, to keep that energy going,” Curry said.

The Warriors’ success since the trade has been a testament to Butler’s seamless integration into the team. Curry believes that Butler’s presence has not only helped him and Draymond Green but also elevated the play of their supporting cast. “He makes guys around him better, and he does it really naturally,” Curry said.

As the Warriors continue their push for another championship, it’s clear that the Jimmy Butler trade has been a turning point in their season. Despite initial concerns, Curry and the Warriors have welcomed Butler with open arms, and the results speak for themselves.
