During the Kansas City Chiefs’ game against the Buffalo Bills on November 17, quarterback Patrick Mahomes was fined for making an inappropriate gesture. After throwing a fourth-quarter touchdown pass to tight end Noah Gray, Mahomes mimicked shooting a gun with his fingers, which the NFL deemed unsportsmanlike conduct. The Chiefs ultimately lost the game 30-21.
Mahomes was fined $14,069 for the gesture, which came after a strong performance in the game, despite the loss. This isn’t the first time Mahomes has faced fines; he was previously penalized $50,000 in December 2023 for verbally abusing an official during a similar game against the Bills.
Following the loss, Mahomes acknowledged that while the Bills played well, the Chiefs’ performance was lacking. He expressed confidence that the defeat could serve as a catalyst for improvement, stating that it would motivate the team to work harder and play better moving forward. The Chiefs will next face the Carolina Panthers on November 24.
