Miami Dolphins’ Week 11 MVP: Newcomer in Receiving Corps Takes the Spotlight

The Miami Dolphins extended their first winning streak of the 2024 NFL season with a 34-19 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, improving their record to 4-6.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa led the way, completing 28 of 36 passes for 288 yards and three touchdowns. Two of those touchdowns, along with 101 of those passing yards, went to newly signed tight end Jonnu Smith.

Smith, who joined the Dolphins this offseason to add a fresh dimension to their passing game, had a slow start to the season. However, with Tagovailoa back under center, Smith has become a key contributor, even surpassing the expected production from Miami’s second receiver, Jaylen Waddle.

According to David Furones of the Sun Sentinel, Smith’s performance on Sunday marked the first time a Dolphins tight end had recorded over 100 yards and two touchdowns in a single game since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger—a notable achievement.
