The Las Vegas Raiders are in the midst of a six-game losing streak, and their schedule shows little sign of easing up. The team has made several attempts to spark improvement, including multiple quarterback changes and reshuffling the offensive staff, but none have proven effective in turning things around.
With head coach Antonio Pierce potentially coaching for his job, winning games could actually hurt the team’s chances of securing a high draft pick. Despite this, Pierce stated last week before the Raiders’ Week 11 loss to the Miami Dolphins that quarterback Gardner Minshew gives them the best chance to win. However, it’s clear that Minshew hasn’t worked out as hoped. Despite his struggles, Pierce emphasized this week that the team intends to give him a fair chance moving forward and confirmed on Monday that Minshew would start against the Denver Broncos on Sunday. According to ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez, Aidan O’Connell cannot be removed from IR until the following week. Minshew has had difficulty protecting the ball this season, passing for over 1,700 yards with eight touchdowns and nine interceptions, while posting a 39.1 QBR.
