Seminole Boosters Town Hall Recap**

After a rough football season and a gameday experience that sparked significant fan backlash early in the year, Florida State supporters have had plenty of concerns to voice in 2024. To address these, FSU Athletic Director Michael Alford and Seminole Boosters CEO Stephen Ponder hosted a virtual town hall on Wednesday, discussing key topics, including:

FSU’s Disappointing 2024 Season & Confidence in Coach Mike Norvell
Alford expressed continued support for head coach Mike Norvell despite the challenges of the current season. He emphasized that while no one is happy with the team’s performance, the key focus moving forward is addressing the issues and improving. “None of us anticipated or are pleased with where we are, but we are where we are. What’s important now is how we address it,” Alford said. He also reiterated his belief in Norvell’s leadership, highlighting their regular communication and shared vision to turn things around. “We should be better, and we should not be in this situation.”

### Changes to NIL and Player Compensation
Alford outlined upcoming changes to Florida State’s NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) strategy, which will shift from a “wild west” approach to a more structured, in-house model. This includes athletes negotiating their media value at enrollment and signing 1-2 year contracts. The Battles End, FSU’s NIL collective, will transition to a marketing role, helping facilitate endorsement opportunities. Alford also shared that the school has been consulting with the Dallas Cowboys in preparation for the upcoming changes.

### FSU vs. ACC Lawsuit
While Alford didn’t dive deep into the specifics of FSU’s ongoing legal dispute with the ACC, he made it clear that the lawsuit is tied to the need for better revenue distribution. He emphasized that FSU’s goal is to ensure the university’s athletic program has the financial resources to remain competitive among the nation’s elite. “Florida State’s a national brand, and we want to compete at the highest level,” Alford stated.

### Interest in FSU’s Open Coaching Positions
Alford briefly addressed the vacant coordinator positions on FSU’s football coaching staff, noting that the response from potential candidates has been overwhelmingly positive. “The search process has already started, and the names that have expressed interest are big names with a lot of expertise,” he said. He stressed that the level of interest speaks to the belief in Coach Norvell’s program and the long-term success of the university’s athletics.
