BREAKING NEWS: Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel broke his silence on quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s injury.

Mike McDaniel Provides Update on Tua Tagovailoa’s Injury

In a recent press conference, Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel addressed the situation concerning quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who suffered a concussion during the team’s Thursday Night Football game against the Buffalo Bills in Week 2. McDaniel reported that Tagovailoa was in good spirits and had gone home after the game.

“I talked to him in the locker room before he left, and he was upbeat,” McDaniel said. “Our primary focus is on his health right now. We’ll have more information tomorrow after he undergoes a thorough evaluation.”

Tagovailoa was officially ruled out of the game in the third quarter due to the concussion. Backup quarterback Skylar Thompson took over, but Tagovailoa had already made an impact with 145 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions, including a pick-six.

McDaniel noted that Tagovailoa, despite his condition, made an effort to boost his teammates’ spirits in the locker room. The team will wait for a detailed evaluation on September 13 to determine the next steps and address the situation appropriately.

Tagovailoa, who has a history of head injuries, was reviewed by the NFL and NFL Players Association for his concussion protocols during the 2022 season, leading to updated safety measures. Despite his documented concussion history, he had previously stated that he didn’t believe Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) would be an issue for him, a stance he took after considering retirement.

Stay tuned for further updates as the Dolphins provide more information on Tagovailoa’s recovery and potential return.
