While Alabama football hasn’t made a flurry of moves in the spring transfer portal, it’s still active. The Crimson Tide is preparing to host in-state tight end transfer Brody Dalton for a visit, according to his manager Corey Williams.
Dalton, a Fyffe native, started eight games last season for Troy as a junior. Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 250 pounds, he began his college career at UAB, where he redshirted in 2021 before playing in 2022.
This past season, Dalton recorded 15 catches for 188 yards and three touchdowns. In 2023, he added 88 yards on five receptions, and back in 2022 at UAB, he had four catches for 63 yards.
Alabama is currently thin at tight end, with only Jay Lindsey healthy by the end of spring practices. While Josh Cuevas and Danny Lewis Jr. are expected to lead the group, the Tide could benefit from adding an experienced option like Dalton.
Head coach Kalen DeBoer acknowledged the team remains open to improving the roster through the portal, saying, “Any way you can improve the roster, we will do that,” and referenced the staff’s success in the December transfer window.
