Touching news: Kevin Magnussen has finally announced his intentions to leave Haas after…

Kevin Magnussen is set to leave Haas at the end of the 2024 Formula 1 season, with Esteban Ocon anticipated to fill his spot after departing Alpine. Magnussen, who has been with Haas for two separate periods starting in 2017, will leave the team with his final races concluding in December at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Nico Hulkenberg, his current teammate, is also exiting Haas to join Sauber.

The Haas team principal expressed gratitude for Magnussen’s contributions, emphasizing his importance to the team. Magnussen, currently 16th in the Drivers’ Championship, reflected on his time with Haas and expressed a commitment to finishing the season strongly.

Ocon’s potential move to Haas follows his announced departure from Alpine after a collision incident with teammate Pierre Gasly at the Monaco Grand Prix. While Ocon has not confirmed his 2025 plans, it is likely he will join Haas.

Despite leaving Haas as a race driver, Magnussen may remain with the team in a different capacity. The team principal hinted at maintaining ties with Magnussen due to his valuable experience and relationship with the team. Magnussen indicated openness to this possibility if he doesn’t secure a race seat for the next season.

Sky Sports reporter Craig Slater noted that Magnussen’s departure wasn’t surprising given his performance relative to Hulkenberg and highlighted the career trajectory of young British driver Oliver Bearman, who will join Haas next year.
