REPORT: Green Bay Packers Explains Reasons for Aaron Rodgers’ Return to the Team Upcoming Year…

Aaron Rodgers Could Return This Season, But Should He.

Aaron Rodgers is considering returning to play for the New York Jets this season, despite tearing his Achilles tendon less than three months ago. He mentioned to Pat McAfee that his comeback hinges on his health and the Jets’ playoff prospects. Although the Jets are currently 4-7 and struggling, Rodgers has been seen receiving treatment at the team’s complex.

Rodgers is in the first year of a three-year, $112.5 million contract, and his injury disrupted the Jets’ plans for 2023. Head coach Robert Saleh and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett are expected to stay on for 2024 to give it another shot with Rodgers.

Typically, an Achilles rupture requires nine to twelve months for recovery, making a 2023 return unlikely. The Jets’ offensive line has also been inconsistent, using eight different lineups in eleven games. Nevertheless, Rodgers has not dismissed the idea of playing this season, generating interest and speculation.

Teammates, like linebacker CJ Mosley, are impressed with Rodgers’ recovery but remain uncertain about his return to the field. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Rodgers aims to start practicing soon and possibly play in the Jets’ home game on Christmas Eve, pending medical clearance to ensure he isn’t risking further injury.

While Rodgers’ return could boost team morale, it poses significant risks for both him and the Jets, who have the NFL’s longest current playoff drought at twelve seasons. Re-injury could have serious consequences for the team. Rodgers needs to weigh his desire to play against the long-term health and success of the team, as an early return might jeopardize both his health and the Jets’ future.
