Kevin Magnussen issues statement.

Kevin Magnussen will depart from Haas at the end of the 2024 Formula 1 season, the team confirmed on Thursday. Magnussen, Haas’ longest-serving driver, initially raced for the team from 2017 to 2020 and returned in 2022.

For 2025, Haas has already secured Ferrari junior Oliver Bearman for one seat, and sources suggest they are close to signing Esteban Ocon, who is set to leave Alpine. Magnussen’s future in F1 remains uncertain, potentially hinging on Carlos Sainz’s decisions, which are also affecting Ocon’s move to Haas.

Magnussen expressed gratitude to the team, particularly to Gene Haas for bringing him back in 2022. He shared fond memories and emphasized his commitment to performing well for the remainder of the season. Team boss Aayo Komatsu praised Magnussen’s contributions, recalling notable performances like his fifth-place finish at the 2022 Bahrain Grand Prix and his unexpected return that year. Magnussen, who debuted with a podium finish at McLaren, also raced for Renault in 2016 before joining Haas.
