**Real Madrid Midfielder Toni Kroos Announces Retirement**
Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has surprised the football world by announcing his retirement following the European Championship with Germany this summer. The club revealed in a statement on social media that Kroos, aged 34, will retire after Euro 2024, marking the Champions League final on June 1 as his final game in a Real Madrid shirt.
Despite having one of his best seasons at the club, Kroos’s contract was set to expire at the end of the season, along with that of fellow midfielder Luka Modric. While Modric is expected to extend his stay at Real Madrid, Kroos has confirmed his decision to retire.
The official statement from Real Madrid expressed gratitude and admiration for Kroos, highlighting his significant contributions and legendary status within the club. During his tenure at Real Madrid, Kroos made 463 appearances and won 22 titles, including four Champions League trophies, with a chance to add another title on June 1 at Wembley.
