JUST IN:’I was really nervous and excited’ – USWNT star Emily Fox reveals the moment she knew she was going to join Arsenal

USWNT star Emily Fox joins Arsenal from North Carolina Courage and reveals what led her to sign for the Gunners.

Arsenal announced the signing of Fox on Thursday in a bid to strengthen and add depth to their defense.
Fox is the successor to Noel Maritz, who left last weekend to sign a permanent contract with Aston Villa.
The USWNT defender has revealed why he decided to join Jonas Aidewall’s team.
Fox revealed that one of the things that convinced him to join Arsenal was the record crowd of 59,042 at the Emirates when Aidevall’s side defeated title rivals Chelsea in December.

WHAT FOX SAID

That game and being there was just amazing.
I was just nervous and excited after that game,” Fox told Telegraph Sport after completing his move to Arsenal.
“The experience, the great atmosphere, the fans and their noise, the football that was played and the win against Chelsea – I had done the research beforehand, but that was the crowning glory for me.
” I want to play here.
” “Why Arsenal?
” Their style of play, how they express themselves as a club, how they want to see women’s football grow and how they want to be an asset to football by having women’s football play at the Emirates.
” Offering as much as possible and facilities that offer the same – this unit really excites me.
” I know Lotte (Wabeng Moi) and Alessia (Russo) well, so I reached out to them to find out more about the club through their lens.
And now I’m here and I can see for myself that the club is really investing and wants Arsenal to be fully integrated with the academy, the youth, the girls and the boys.
THE BIGGER PICTURE

Fox played for the North Carolina Tar Heels in the US university system alongside British duo Waben Moy and Russo.

Ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup clash with Watford, Aydevall praised Fox’s “explosiveness” and described him as one of the best attacking full-backs in the world who can play on either wing.

WHAT NEXT FOR FOX?

Fox is likely to feature when Arsenal face Watford in the Women’s FA Cup fourth round at Meadow Park later today.
Idewall hopes his team will advance to the second half of the competition, with kickoff scheduled for 13:00 Japan time.
