Ohio State Football Mourns the Departure of Defensive Lineman Hero Kanu.

In a move that has sent shockwaves through the college football landscape, Ohio State defensive lineman Hero Kanu has announced his decision to enter the transfer portal. This development comes on the heels of Kanu’s junior season with the Buckeyes, a campaign that saw him log a modest four tackles across 123 defensive snaps.

Kanu’s collegiate journey began with a redshirt freshman season in 2022, during which he gained valuable experience in a limited capacity, appearing in three games. However, it was his sophomore season in 2023 that offered a glimpse into his potential, as he racked up 10 tackles, including a sack, across 11 games played.

Despite this promising start, Kanu’s playing time decreased significantly in 2024, leading to speculation about his future with the program. Now, with his entry into the transfer portal, Kanu will have the opportunity to explore options that may provide him with more ample playing time and a chance to showcase his skills on a larger stage.

The loss of Kanu is undoubtedly a setback for Ohio State, which will now need to regroup and reassess its defensive depth chart. As the Buckeyes navigate the challenges of the offseason, they will be forced to confront the reality of Kanu’s departure and the potential impact it may have on their defensive unit.
