Introducing his busy week in Death Valley:

The Coaching Hire: Blake Baker Brought in as Defensive Coordinator

Baker will assume defensive coordinator duties as the Tigers enter a new era.

This one went quickly.
Kelly decided to part ways with his defensive staff on Wednesday, and a new staff took over 48 hours later.
Late Wednesday night, reports broke that Baker has emerged as a top candidate for LSU’s defensive coordinator job.
As a coach with Louisiana State and his LSU ties, it was clear that Kelly and the team were going full throttle in this game.

LSU has been in contact with Baker as it begins its coaching search, and there are certainly plenty of possibilities for the top candidate.
In two seasons at Missouri State, the Tigers finished the season ranked 34th in overall defense in both 2022 and 2023, gaining 341 and 336 yards per game, respectively.

He paved the way for Missouri to host a New Year’s Six Bowl and made a name for himself on the national stage.
What are the other important factors?
Baker played college ball at Tulane University, and his wife is from Louisiana and happens to be an All-SEC football player at LSU.
There’s been quite a bit of intrigue surrounding Baker regarding the defensive coordinator position, which LSU made official Friday night.
