Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is reportedly next in line to receive a major payday.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported during an appearance on SportsCenter on Sunday that the Packers are hoping to complete a contract extension for Love that will put him in the upper echelon of signal-callers in the NFL.
The 26th pick of the 2020 draft, Love took over as Green Bay’s full-time starter for the first time last year after longtime quarterback Aaron Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets. While he experienced some early growing pains, Love eventually proved himself to be a viable successor in a long line of talented Packers quarterbacks.
The 25-year-old ranked second in the league with 32 passing touchdowns while throwing for 4,159 yards and 11 interceptions. He helped lead Green Bay, which had the youngest roster in the NFL last season, to a surprising playoff spot and an upset win over the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC Wild Card Round. The Packers fell to the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round.
It’s clear that Love has the potential to be a superstar in the league, and Green Bay seems ready to reward him with a contract that reflects that.
