Good news:Crimson Tide Welcomes Home Former Player as Assistant Coach.

A familiar face is returning to Tuscaloosa to strengthen Alabama’s coaching staff. The Crimson Tide has added a new assistant defensive backs coach Jason jones  who knows the program inside and out, having been part of its success both on the field and in the locker room.

“This is more than just a job—it’s a homecoming,” the new coach said. “The University of Alabama and Tuscaloosa shaped my career and my life. To be back where it all began is an incredible blessing, and I’m grateful to Coach DeBoer for this opportunity.”

With over two decades of experience coaching defensive backs at the collegiate level, the hire brings a proven track record to the Crimson Tide. Most recently coaching at North Carolina, his career includes stints at Ole Miss, Indiana, Oklahoma State, and Tulsa, developing top-tier talent along the way.

Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer emphasized the impact of the addition. “This is a game-changing hire for our defense. Not only does he bring expertise and leadership, but his deep understanding of this program’s culture and legacy makes him the perfect fit.”

For Alabama, this is more than a coaching change—it’s a reunion rooted in tradition, pride, and a shared vision for the future of the Crimson tide.
