Quarterback Kurtis Rourke is set to undergo surgery next week to repair a torn right ACL, an injury he played through while leading Indiana to the College Football Playoff, according to his agent, Casey Muir, who spoke to ESPN on Friday.
Rourke missed only one game in 2024 due to a thumb injury and helped Indiana achieve a school-record 11 wins. The Hoosiers were eliminated by Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff’s first round on December 20.
The Indianapolis Star reported that Rourke is believed to have partially torn his ACL in July before fully tearing it the following month. According to the report, Rourke did not inform Indiana’s medical staff of any further pain or complications after the initial injury, meaning no additional exams or imaging were conducted throughout the season.
Rourke had previously torn the same ACL while playing at Ohio in 2022.
After transferring to Indiana for his redshirt-senior season in 2024, he completed 69.4% of his passes (222 of 320) for 3,042 yards, 29 touchdowns, and five interceptions, finishing ninth in Heisman Trophy voting.
ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. currently ranks Rourke as the No. 9 quarterback prospect for the 2025 NFL Draft.
