Stephen Curry, the Golden State Warriors’ star point guard, has expressed his willingness to take strategic rest days to manage his workload, but emphasized that he doesn’t want his knee issues to be the primary reason.
Curry, who has been dealing with bilateral knee problems, stated that his maintenance routine has changed, but he still feels capable of performing at a high level. In the Warriors’ recent loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Curry scored 23 points, but shot 6 of 17 from the field.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr acknowledged that Curry wasn’t in top form, but praised his performance. Kerr noted that Curry’s physical condition has improved, but he still needs to work through some challenges.
The Warriors’ success hinges on Curry’s ability to stay healthy, and Kerr initially planned to limit Curry’s minutes. However, the team’s situation has forced him to rely on his star player more heavily.
Curry emphasized that he’s thinking about the bigger picture and doesn’t want his knee issues to dictate his playing time. He welcomed the emergence of Jonathan Kuminga as a reliable scoring option, stating that the team needs his contributions, especially in games where they struggle to score.
Overall, Curry is committed to managing his workload and staying healthy, while also leading the Warriors to success.
