College Football Insider Suggests Ryan Day Might Leave Ohio State to Protect Family

Despite Ohio State’s position in the College Football Playoff race, head coach Ryan Day’s future with the program is under scrutiny. Following a 13-10 loss to Michigan—Ohio State’s fourth straight defeat in the rivalry—questions about Day’s tenure have intensified. The Buckeyes were heavily favored at home but fell short, dropping Day’s record against Michigan to 1-4. While his overall record of 66-10 is impressive, the inability to beat Michigan has sparked calls for change.

Fox Sports analyst Bruce Feldman believes Ohio State won’t fire Day but wouldn’t be surprised if he steps down to prioritize his family. Speaking on *The Rich Eisen Show,* Feldman highlighted the strain Day and his family have faced.

“Ryan Day has been dealing with a lot over the past couple of years, even before the Michigan loss,” Feldman said. “He’s deeply aware of the importance of mental health, and I think he’ll ask himself whether continuing in this role is best for him and his family.”

Despite the Michigan setback, Ohio State is ranked sixth in the College Football Playoff standings and remains a strong championship contender. Under the expanded playoff format, the Buckeyes would face Tennessee as the No. 8 seed if current rankings hold.

Feldman emphasized Ohio State’s talent, noting, “They’re the most talented team in the country top to bottom. But they’re not playing at their peak, and there’s a lot of soul-searching to be done.”

As speculation continues, Day’s decision may hinge on balancing his personal well-being with the immense pressure of leading one of college football’s most high-profile programs.
