FSU Makes a Bold Move: Can They Steal Shadarius Toodle From Auburn’s Grasp?

Florida State’s coaching staff has been on a relentless recruiting mission this January, cranking up the energy both on the road and back home in Tallahassee. Whether shaking hands with prospects across the country or rolling out VIP treatment on campus, the Seminoles are in full-blown “reload mode.

The latest big move? FSU extended a scholarship offer to Shadarius Toodle, a four-star linebacker and current Auburn commit. Toodle broke the news on social media, giving a shoutout to head coach Mike Norvell and defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. for making it happen.

But here’s the kicker: Toodle’s recruitment is heating up fast. Despite pledging to Auburn last July, powerhouse programs like Georgia have joined the race, offering him earlier this month. Florida State, meanwhile, hasn’t hosted Toodle since an unofficial visit in April 2022—a gap the Seminoles will need to close if they want to pull off a recruiting heist.

And let’s be real—Toodle’s junior year is the kind of season that makes recruiters drool. Playing both sides of the ball at Cottage Hill Christian Academy, he dominated with 157 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, two sacks, and an interception on defense. On offense, he added 297 rushing yards, 197 receiving yards, and three touchdowns. Oh, and he had nine games with double-digit tackles, including *three* where he hit 20+. In one game, he dropped 20 tackles and four tackles for loss like it was just another day at the office.

At 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds, Toodle is a beast, ranked No. 74 overall, No. 5 among linebackers, and No. 5 in Alabama for the 2026 class (247Sports).

The Seminoles’ 2026 recruiting class currently sits at No. 10 in the country with six verbal commitments—but no linebackers yet. Snagging Toodle could be the move that takes this class to the next level.
