The Arizona Cardinals are shaking things up by parting ways with defensive line coach Derrick LeBlanc after just two seasons, marking another bold move in a series of shake-ups this offseason. LeBlanc, with over 20 years of coaching experience, spent three years in the NFL, including one season with the Miami Dolphins and two with the Cardinals. Despite his extensive background, LeBlanc faced a major challenge with a defensive line that struggled to live up to expectations, constantly hampered by injuries. Yet, he still managed to get the best out of rotational players and free agents off the street—showing some impressive grit in tough circumstances.
Still, the defense never clicked the way the team had hoped. With the Cardinals’ defensive line continuing to underperform, the question remains: Was LeBlanc simply the scapegoat for a larger, deeper problem, or is there more behind his departure? This move raises eyebrows as two key coaching spots now need to be filled—roles that could determine the future of the defense. It’s worth noting that LeBlanc’s contract wasn’t renewed, but he wasn’t outright fired. Assistant defensive line coach William Peagler is still on staff, so the Cardinals may look to elevate him into the role. One thing’s clear: the Cardinals are in for some big changes, and the defense’s fate rests on the next move
