Park Ridge (IL) Maine South quarterback Jameson Purcell, part of the 2027 class, has recently caught the attention of the Indiana Hoosiers football staff, making him one of the most sought-after recruits this offseason.
Purcell first received an offer back in April from former quarterbacks coach Tino Sunseri and head coach Curt Cignetti. Since then, Chandler Whitmer, who replaced Sunseri, and offensive coordinator Mike Shanahan have also reached out, with plans to have Purcell visit Indiana during both summer camp and the upcoming season.
Purcell holds offers from top programs including Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Miami, Utah, UCLA, Ole Miss, Washington, Notre Dame, Michigan, Auburn, Texas A&M, and Oregon, among others.
Although Purcell is not yet ranked in the 2027 class, he’s projected as a four-star recruit. Scouts have compared him to former Michigan quarterback and current Minnesota Viking J.J. McCarthy, praising his 6’2″, 185-pound frame, his ability to navigate traffic to create passing lanes, and his vision downfield. His ability to remain calm under pressure and make smart decisions is also highly regarded.
This season, as a sophomore, Purcell led Maine South to an 8-4 record, throwing for 2,572 yards and 30 touchdowns, completing 70% of his passes.
