Warriors Eyeing Kelly Olynyk as Solution to Frontcourt Depth Issues

The Golden State Warriors’ injury woes continued as they faced the Indiana Pacers without their top four players. Despite the odds, the Warriors put up a good fight but ultimately fell short, losing 108-96.

The Pacers, who have been in good form lately, proved too strong for the depleted Warriors. However, the Warriors’ effort was commendable, and they remained within touching distance until the fourth quarter.

One of the bright spots for the Warriors was the performance of their two-way players. Pat Spencer had a career-high 17 points, shooting 7-of-13 from the field in just over 20 minutes off the bench. Quinten Post, a rookie center, also impressed, scoring six points in seven minutes, including his first made 3-pointer in the NBA.

Buddy Hield, who had a team-high 19 points in the Warriors’ previous game, added 17 points against the Pacers. However, his shooting was inefficient, making just 6-of-19 from the field and 3-of-12 from 3-point range.

Dennis Schroder, the veteran guard, struggled as well, scoring 12 points on 5-of-13 shooting and 1-of-6 from beyond the arc. Moses Moody, who returned from injury, had a disappointing game, scoring seven points on 11 shots, including just 1-of-5 from 3-point range.

The only other Warrior to score in double figures was Gui Santos, who had an efficient 11 points, three rebounds, and three assists on 4-of-5 shooting and 2-of-2 from deep.

The Warriors’ offense struggled mightily, particularly from 3-point range, where they made just 10-of-38 shots. The absence of Stephen Curry, Jonathan Kuminga, Andrew Wiggins, and Draymond Green was deeply felt, and the team’s scoring struggles were expected.

Despite the loss, the Warriors can take pride in their effort. They will look to build on this performance as they face the Raptors in Toronto on Monday. With their injury woes likely to continue, the Warriors will need to rely on their depth and resilience to stay competitive in the Western Conference.
