Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race Overshadowed by Twin Tragedies: Two Sailors Killed by Sail Booms

The iconic Sydney to Hobart yacht race took a devastating turn on Dec 27, with two sailors losing their lives in separate incidents after being struck by sail booms. The tragedy has cast a dark shadow over one of the world’s most celebrated ocean races, leaving the sailing community in mourning.

The first incident occurred just before midnight when a crew member on one of the competing yachts was hit by the boom during rough conditions.
