The Auburn Tigers have struck gold once again in the transfer portal, securing their third quarterback this offseason with the addition of Tanner Bailey.
Bailey, a talented 6-foot-1, 215-pound redshirt freshman from Gordo, Alabama, is set to bring his skills to Auburn after spending two seasons at South Carolina. After sitting out the 2024 season, Bailey made the exciting decision to return to football and join the Tigers, sharing the news with his fans via an Instagram post. Although he didn’t see game action in 2022, Bailey played in one game during 2023, a 47-21 victory over Furman, and made his presence felt on the field.
Coming out of high school, Bailey was a coveted four-star recruit, ranked as the No. 220 player nationally and the No. 15 quarterback in the class of 2022 according to 247Sports. With offers from top programs like Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, and Oregon, Bailey chose South Carolina, but now he’s bringing his talent and ambition to Auburn’s quarterback room, where he’ll compete for the starting role.
Bailey joins a talented group of quarterbacks, including former Oklahoma standout Jackson Arnold and former Stanford quarterback Ashton Daniels, in what is shaping up to be an exciting competition for the starting job.
With Bailey’s addition, Auburn fans are thrilled about the future, as he will join Arnold, Daniels, and highly-ranked incoming freshman Deuce Knight, who’s ranked No. 33 nationally and No. 5 among quarterbacks in the class of 2025, in a wide-open race for the position. The Tigers are building an impressive lineup, and the excitement surrounding the quarterback battle is just beginning!
