As the College Football Playoff semifinals loom, the air is thick with predictions from analysts and fans alike. But one voice has cut through the noise—former ESPN analyst David Pollack, who didn’t hold back on his take for the Cotton Bowl clash between the Ohio State Buckeyes and Texas Longhorns
Ohio State rolls into the game as a 5.5-point favorite, according to ESPN BET, and Pollack is riding with the odds-makers. Not only does he predict a Buckeye victory, but he foresees a statement win. “I’ve got Ohio State taking it 34-21,” Pollack declared. “That loss to Michigan? It woke them up. They’ve been in the lab ever since.”
The Buckeyes have been on a tear, dismantling Tennessee 42-17 in round one, followed by a commanding 41-21 victory over Oregon to punch their ticket to the semifinals.
Despite finishing the regular season at 12-2, Ohio State’s gut-wrenching loss to Michigan seems to have flipped a switch. Pollack, echoing the sentiments of many analysts, believes that setback became the fuel for their resurgence.
Since falling to Michigan, Ohio State has been nothing short of lethal—averaging 41.5 points and racking up 486.5 yards per game.
Leading the charge is quarterback Will Howard, whose staggering 32 touchdowns, 3,490 yards, and 72.6% completion rate have solidified him as one of the premier playmakers in the nation.
The Buckeyes and Longhorns are set to collide in the Orange Bowl this Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET, and if Pollack’s prediction holds true, Ohio State may be well on their way to a shot at the crown.
