Indiana has secured another transfer for the 2025 season, bringing in former Pittsburgh defensive back Ryland Gandy. During the 2024 season with the Panthers, Gandy totaled 40 tackles, one pass break-up, and half a tackle for loss across 13 games.
Gandy visited Indiana officially last week and had also been considering trips to Michigan, North Carolina, and Ole Miss before ultimately choosing the Hoosiers.
Over three seasons at Pitt, Gandy recorded 47 tackles (28 solo), a tackle for loss, and two pass breakups. A native of Buford, GA, he committed to Pittsburgh as a highly-rated three-star recruit in the 2022 class, selecting the Panthers over offers from programs such as Arkansas, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Michigan State, and more.
In 2024, Gandy played 690 defensive snaps for Pitt, the third-most on the team. According to Pro Football Focus, he allowed 27 receptions on 51 targets, totaling 546 yards and three touchdowns.
With two years of eligibility remaining, Gandy will join a deep cornerback group at Indiana, which features D’Angelo Ponds, Jamier Johnson, and Jamari Sharpe. IU has also added Northern Illinois’ defensive back Amariyun Knighten to the mix.
Ryland Gandy shared his excitement about the move on social media, tweeting, “HOO HOO HOO HOOSIERS‼️”
