The Golden State Warriors are gearing up for the upcoming Feb. 6 trade deadline and are reportedly looking to add another star alongside Steph Curry and Draymond Green. General manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. is focused on bolstering the roster to make the most of Curry and Green’s remaining prime years.
While the team recently acquired Dennis Schroder, they are still actively exploring further trades to enhance their title hopes in the competitive Western Conference. In a recent report, Michael Scotto from HoopsHype mentioned six potential trade targets the Warriors have been scouting: Jimmy Butler, Brandon Ingram, Cam Johnson, Zach LaVine, Nikola Vucevic, and Kyle Kuzma.
With the exception of Kuzma, all of these players could significantly bolster the Warriors’ scoring depth. Despite having a solid roster, Curry is still shouldering a large offensive load, which grew even heavier after Klay Thompson’s departure to the Dallas Mavericks. Adding another proven scorer could make a big difference as the team eyes another playoff run.
Regarding Schroder, the Warriors are still working on establishing chemistry. While he’s played seven games with the team, Curry admitted the partnership between them needs more clarity to become effective. The duo’s performance has been inconsistent, with the Warriors struggling when they share the floor, as shown by negative advanced stats.
Additionally, there’s some internal debate regarding rookie Brandin Podziemski, who the Warriors were reluctant to trade this past summer. While he has underperformed this season, there’s hope he’ll bounce back, potentially benefiting from playing alongside additional offensive talent.
