The Denver Broncos are in playoff contention for the first time since 2015, a position they’ve rarely found themselves in since then. A key factor in this success is the team’s strong health throughout the season, despite a few significant injuries in Week 15.
Although some players, like defensive lineman -Franklin Myers, cornerback Pat Surtain II, and guard Quinn Meinerz, were hurt in their big win over the Colts, most injuries appear minor and won’t affect their upcoming game against the Chargers. Surtain, Meinerz, running back Jaleel McLaughlin, and corner Riley Moss were able to practice, offering hope they’ll play Thursday. The only player absent from practice was Franklin-Myers, who is nursing a finger injury.
Moss’s potential return is particularly crucial for the Broncos, as his absence has been felt in recent weeks. His presence would strengthen their defense, especially given rookie Kris Abrams-Draine’s limited experience. Meinerz’s absence from the injury report suggests he’ll be ready to go, while McLaughlin’s health could also play a significant role in a Thursday win.
Despite missing key players like inside linebacker Alex Singleton for the season, the Broncos are among the healthier teams in the league. If they can maintain this health through the remainder of the season, including a potential Wild Card Round, it would be a significant advantage over most other teams.
