NEWS NOW: Ryan Day Takes a Shot at Rival, But Is He Asking for Trouble

Ryan Day may have just given Michigan a little more bulletin board material ahead of next season. During a recent interview, the Ohio State head coach commented, “We’re in a different era, it’s a different time… we’re in the playoffs. Other teams aren’t. That’s the way it goes.” He went on to say, “Not that it’s ever going to change The Game, it’s not going to, but we’re in the playoffs and that’s all we know right now.

While the 10-2 Buckeyes are still in the playoff hunt, Day may want to reconsider taking jabs at Michigan, who has handed him four straight losses. After all, he hasn’t beaten the Wolverines since 2019, so poking the bear might not be the smartest move.

But the real kicker came when Day outlined Ohio State’s goals for the season, saying, “The goal all along was to make the playoffs.” That’s it? **Just** making the playoffs? Not winning the Big Ten or a National Championship? Fans might be questioning the program’s true ambitions.

Day’s job security was already under the microscope after another loss to Michigan, but Ohio State’s athletic director Ross Bjork has expressed confidence in him for 2025. However, comments like these may only fuel the fire from critics. Day can silence the noise by winning it all—starting with a big win over Tennessee on Saturday.
