Sad news: Indian Student Stabbed to Death by Roommate in Canada, Accused in Custody

A 22-year-old Indian student, Gurasis Singh, was tragically stabbed to death by his 36-year-old roommate, Crossley Hunter, in Sarnia, Canada, on December 1, 2024. Singh, from Punjab’s Ludhiana, was a business student at Lambton College. The altercation occurred in the kitchen of their shared rooming house, where Hunter grabbed a knife and stabbed Singh multiple times ¹ ².

Hunter was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, with a court appearance scheduled for Friday. The police have stated that they do not believe the crime was racially motivated “at this time” ¹ ².

 

Lambton College has expressed condolences over Singh’s death, acknowledging the significant impact of the loss on the college community. The incident has sparked an outpouring of grief, anger, and demands for change, with many calling for improved housing and safety measures for international students in Canada ¹ ².
