NEWS NOW: Bills Urged to Steal Rival Star to Fix Defensive Woes

The Buffalo Bills, despite a historic performance from quarterback Josh Allen, suffered a 44-42 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, exposing weaknesses in their defense. While the defeat hurt Buffalo’s chances for the AFC’s top seed, the team remains in playoff contention after clinching the AFC East.

To address defensive lapses, analyst Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report suggests the Bills sign former Dolphins star cornerback Xavien Howard. The 31-year-old free agent, an All-Pro talent, could provide the spark Buffalo needs to make a legitimate Super Bowl run.

“This might be the time for the Bills to seriously consider adding another defensive back,” Ballentine wrote, noting Howard’s solid 2023 season, during which he allowed an 81.3 passer rating. Signing Howard, he argued, would be a “cost-effective way” to elevate Buffalo’s defense.

Buffalo’s defense has struggled at times, allowing 44 points to the Rams and 35 to the Ravens this season. Adding a veteran like Howard could shore up their secondary and provide critical stability against elite offenses.

Meanwhile, the Bills recently brought back safety Micah Hyde to their practice squad. Hyde, a trusted veteran, has embraced a mentorship role, aiming to guide younger players while standing ready for potential playoff action.

“I’m here to help however I can,” Hyde said. “Whether it’s mentoring or stepping in on the field, I’m excited for this role.”

With the playoffs on the horizon, Buffalo’s moves in the coming weeks could make or break their title hopes. Will the Bills roll the dice on Howard to solidify their defense? Stay tuned.
