Athletes need a way to unwind when things aren’t going well on the field, especially during tough seasons. For Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, his new purchase may help him cope with the frustration of a challenging year.
In an episode of HBO’s “Hard Knocks: In Season with the AFC North,” Burrow shared with teammates Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins that he had bought a limited edition Batmobile for about $3 million. This replica, one of only ten in existence, is inspired by the Batmobile featured in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy. Unfortunately, Burrow won’t get his hands on the iconic vehicle for another year.
Despite his individual success, with impressive stats such as 3,337 passing yards, 30 touchdowns, and just five interceptions, Burrow’s Bengals are struggling. At 4-8, their playoff hopes are slim. With no clear path to postseason contention, Burrow’s focus seems to be on finishing the season strong.
While discussing his Batmobile purchase with his teammates, Burrow joked about getting a Batsuit to complete the ensemble, although it may be wiser to wait for a team resurgence before indulging in such a flashy display. Regardless, it’s refreshing to see the Bengals’ key offensive players maintaining a lighthearted mood, even as the team faces a tough stretch.
As the Bengals head into a pivotal offseason, questions loom about the futures of both Chase and Higgins. Chase is expected to secure a significant contract extension, while Higgins may explore free agency. Perhaps when these deals are finalized, Burrow and his teammates will consider adding more Batmobiles to their collection, staying connected no matter where their careers take them.
