A prominent voice in Buckeye Nation has weighed in on the growing debate about Ohio State head coach Ryan Day, offering a surprising shift in perspective.
Known for helping lead the Buckeyes to a national championship in 2002, this figure has been openly critical of Day in the past, particularly after repeated losses to Michigan. But after Ohio State’s narrow 13-10 defeat to their rivals this season, the tone has changed.
Once an outspoken critic, calling for Day’s removal after last year’s third consecutive loss to Michigan, they now see things differently. “I’m NOT on the fire Ryan Day train,” they shared on social media. “After spending time around the kids and the staff, I strongly disagree. The man whooped 2 Top 5 teams in the past 30 days, and I didn’t hear a soul say anything.”
The comments also defended Day against recent criticism, highlighting player mistakes—turnovers, missed tackles, and special teams errors—as key factors in the Michigan loss. Despite frustration over the rivalry, the endorsement suggests confidence in the program’s potential, with a College Football Playoff berth still within reach.
