Auburn football’s Demarcus Riddick found himself unable to back up his bold claims during Iron Bowl week. Riddick, who had boasted that Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe couldn’t match his speed, was outpaced by Milroe during a touchdown run that left the Auburn linebacker in the dust.
After the game, Alabama’s official social media account rubbed salt in the wound, sharing a video that juxtaposed Riddick’s pregame comments with footage of Milroe’s touchdown and celebration. The post, titled “2024 Iron Bowl Rammer Jammer,” was shared at 8:13 p.m. CT but deleted before 9:30 p.m.
Milroe was instrumental in Alabama’s 28-14 victory in Tuscaloosa, contributing three rushing touchdowns while racking up 104 yards on the ground and 256 through the air. Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer praised Milroe’s performance, emphasizing his resilience and crucial role in securing the win.
Meanwhile, Riddick, who had made headlines earlier in the week for taking verbal jabs at Milroe and Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams, managed just two tackles during the game. He had confidently stated that Milroe was “fast, but not faster than me” and vowed to keep him contained—a promise he couldn’t fulfill.
The victory closed out Alabama’s regular season at 9-3, leaving the team awaiting its postseason destiny, including the possibility of a College Football Playoff spot, to be determined after next weekend’s conference championship games.
