Quinn Ewers has endured a series of injuries during his time as the quarterback for the Texas Longhorns, overcoming shoulder issues, strained obliques, and now a sprained ankle. Despite these setbacks, Ewers has consistently pushed through pain to play when his team needs him most.
His latest injury came during Texas’ Week 13 home victory over the Kentucky Wildcats, where he suffered a high-ankle sprain. This injury affected his performance, and he was later listed as probable on the injury report before Texas’ rivalry game against Texas A&M.
However, just hours before the highly anticipated game against the Aggies, Texas announced that Ewers would be starting. Despite calls for backup quarterback Arch Manning to take over due to concerns about Ewers’ injuries, head coach Steve Sarkisian has remained loyal to his starting quarterback.
Even with missing time due to an oblique strain, Ewers has thrown for over 2,000 yards and 23 touchdowns this season, including a rare rushing touchdown in the Red River Rivalry against Oklahoma.
Ewers has consistently delivered when called upon, performing well against both SEC teams and traditional Texas rivals. No. 3 Texas is set to face No. 20 Texas A&M at 6:30 p.m. CT at Kyle Field in College Station, with the game airing on ABC and ESPN+.
