South Carolina Women’s Basketball Overpowers Clemson with Historic 43rd Straight Win

The South Carolina Gamecocks extended their unbeaten streak to 43 games, defeating in-state rival Clemson 77-45. This victory marked a new school record, with standout performances from senior guard Te-Hina Paopao and junior forward Ashlyn Watkins. Paopao contributed 13 points, while Watkins recorded her first double-double of the season, scoring 10 points and grabbing 11 rebounds off the bench.

The game was tightly contested in the first half, with Clemson holding a 17-12 lead at one point. However, South Carolina sparked a turning point with a dominant 17-0 run in the second quarter, aided by an impressive defensive effort that forced Clemson to commit 19 turnovers. Despite shooting poorly in the opening quarter (6-of-29), the Gamecocks turned it around, finishing the half strong, hitting 8-of-15 shots.

South Carolina’s defense was key in the win, limiting Clemson to just 10 points in the paint and out-rebounding them 54-30. The Gamecocks dominated inside, scoring 44 of their 77 points from the paint.
