The Denver Broncos will face the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 12 of the 2024 NFL season, and the Raiders are dealing with significant injury issues this year. While the Broncos also have some key players on their injury report, including defensive lineman Zach Allen (questionable), the Raiders’ situation is far worse.
Bo Nix could take full advantage of a decimated Raiders secondary. Although cornerback Jack Jones practiced on a limited basis Friday, the Raiders are missing two of their top three corners—Nate Hobbs, their best player at the position, and Jakorian Bennett, who has been solid this season. With Bennett and Hobbs sidelined, the Raiders’ secondary is in disarray, leaving Nix with a prime opportunity for big plays in the passing game.
The Raiders’ defense has struggled, particularly on third downs, and Maxx Crosby is their only standout pass rusher. If the Broncos can manage Crosby, they should find success through the air. Additionally, with the Raiders ranked last in the NFL for turnovers forced, and Bo Nix known for minimizing risky throws, the Broncos’ offense is poised for a strong showing.
Adding to the Raiders’ woes, running backs Zamir White and Alexander Mattison are both listed as doubtful, further hindering a ground game that has already struggled. Ameer Abdullah and Dylan Laube are expected to step in, but with limited film on Laube, it could create a favorable situation for the Broncos’ defense.
Denver enters this matchup as the favored road team, but they must avoid overlooking the Raiders, who still have playmakers capable of pulling off an upset. The Broncos must capitalize on the Raiders’ weaknesses in the secondary if they hope to keep their playoff hopes alive.
