Kicked off Clemson’s roster, this former linebacker is now tearing it up in the SEC!

After being dismissed from Clemson for a violation of team rules, former linebacker TJ Dudley has found new life at Ole Miss, where he’s now a standout on the field. Known as TJ Dottery since his name change, he’s started every game as middle linebacker for the Rebels and is the second-leading tackler on a team pushing for a College Football Playoff spot.

Dottery has been a force this season, totaling 68 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and even earning an SEC Defensive Player of the Week award. His journey from Clemson to Ole Miss has been anything but typical. After transferring in 2023, Dottery sat out the regular season due to NCAA transfer rules but shined in the 2023 Peach Bowl. Now, as a key player for Ole Miss (8-2, No. 11 in the CFP rankings), he’s shown why Lane Kiffin calls him a “great leader” and credits him with helping turn around the Rebels’ defense.

The 6-foot-1, 225-pound linebacker has made an immediate impact, proving his worth with explosive plays like a forced fumble recovered for a touchdown against Arkansas. His transition to Ole Miss has been fueled by his desire for playing time and his belief in the program’s future, a decision that’s clearly paying off.

With Ole Miss surging towards the postseason, Dottery’s journey from disappointment at Clemson to stardom in the SEC is a testament to his resilience and determination. The Rebels are eyeing a potential CFP berth, and Dottery’s leadership is a big reason why.
