Breaking news: Major Developments in Miami as Two Crucial Signings Are Secured on Early Signing Day.

On the opening day of the Early Signing Period Wednesday, Miami officially secured National Letters of Intent from    four-star recruits Matthew Able and Ben Ahmed.

Miami's Jalen Blackmon Is Beginning To Settle Into His New Role

Guard Matthew Able and center Ben Ahmed, both four-star recruits, officially signed their National Letters of Intent with Miami on the first day of the Early Signing Period, as confirmed by the school via social media. The duo is part of Miami’s 25th-ranked recruiting class nationally, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Able, standing at 6’5″, is ranked 34th overall, 8th among shooting guards, and 7th in Florida for the 2025 class. Hailing from Fort Lauderdale’s Sagemont Prep School, Able is expected to compete for playing time as a true freshman, especially with Miami set to lose several guards after the 2024-25 season.

Miami guards Jalen Blackmon and Nijel Pack are both in their final year of eligibility, while freshman guard Jalil Bethea is expected to be a one-and-done, with projections as a 2025 NBA Draft lottery pick. However, Miami has strong guard depth to cover these departures in the 2024-25 season, especially with the addition of Able.

Sophomore Paul Djobet, redshirt junior A.J. Staton-McCray, and true freshmen Austin Swartz and Divine Ugochukwu are all expected to return for the 2025-26 season. Head coach Jim Larranaga has seen success with guard-heavy teams, and that trend is expected to continue when Able joins the roster in 2025.
