Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat and Naji Marshall of the New Orleans Pelicans have been suspended for one game each following an on-court altercation during their game on Friday night, the NBA announced. The fight, which began after Miami’s Kevin Love fouled New Orleans’ Zion Williamson, also led to three-game suspensions for Miami’s Thomas Bryant and New Orleans’ Jose Alvarado, both of whom left the bench area to join the fray. Miami’s Nikola Jovic received a one-game suspension for a similar offense.
Butler and Marshall, who were ejected after getting into a physical confrontation, will miss upcoming games as a result. Butler’s suspension will cost him nearly $260,000 in salary, while the other suspended players will lose a combined $115,000. The Heat ultimately won the game 106-95.
