We Just Didn’t Measure Up’: Nadal Accepts Responsibility After Olympics Defeat..

Novak Djokovic has come under fire for his conduct towards the Paris crowd at Court Philippe Chatrier after defeating longtime rival Rafa Nadal at the Olympics. In their 60th meeting, Djokovic dominated Nadal, winning 6-1, 6-4.

Despite Nadal’s brief resurgence in the second set, the crowd’s support couldn’t prevent Djokovic’s victory. Djokovic’s gestures towards the crowd, including taunting them after they cheered Nadal’s brief comeback, sparked controversy. Many fans found his behavior, including his post-match violin celebration, disrespectful, especially as this could be Nadal’s final singles match.

Nadal, however, dismissed retirement rumors, focusing on his ongoing participation in the doubles event. Djokovic, acknowledging the possibility of their last encounter, expressed hope for future matches with Nadal to benefit the sport.
