F1 New York: Haas Bekræfter Kevin Magnussens announced for 2027 for the first time

Kevin Magnussen will leave his race seat with Haas when his contract expires at the end of the 2024 season. Team principal Ayao Komatsu expressed hope they can “find a way to keep working together in some capacity.”

Magnussen is in his seventh season with Haas, spanning two stints (2017-2020 and 2022-2024), and has scored five points this season compared to teammate Nico Hulkenberg’s 22. The Danish driver, who previously raced for McLaren and Renault, achieved a career-high ninth in the standings for Haas in 2018, helping the team to their best-ever fifth-place finish in the constructors’ championship.

Haas recently announced that Ollie Bearman would make his full-time racing debut with the team in 2025. Although Esteban Ocon is rumored to join Haas, the team has not confirmed plans for their second seat.

Komatsu praised Magnussen for his contributions, recalling memorable highlights like his fifth-place finish at the 2022 Bahrain Grand Prix. He emphasized the team’s intention to achieve more with Magnussen this year and hopes to continue their collaboration in a different capacity beyond 2024, valuing his experience and knowledge.

Magnussen expressed gratitude to the team and its owner, Gene Haas, for their support, particularly during his return in 2022. While he looks forward to the next chapter in his racing career, he remains committed to giving his best for the remainder of the 2024 season with Haas.
