2024 was a year marked by remarkable athletic achievements, but it also saw the loss of several legendary figures in sports. Among those who passed away are high jump innovator Dick Fosbury, sprinting icons Tori Bowie and Jim Hines, diver Patricia McCormick, and football legends Just Fontaine and Bobby Charlton.
Fosbury transformed the high jump in the late 1960s with his unique “Fosbury Flop,” which replaced the traditional straddle technique.
