**MILWAUKEE –** Former Brewers pitcher Ruben Quevedo has died at the age of 37, reportedly from a heart attack, according to various news outlets in Venezuela.

Quevedo pitched in the Major Leagues for the Cubs and Brewers from 2000 to 2003, finishing his career with a record of 14-30 and a 6.15 ERA over 66 games (58 starts). He made 45 of those appearances following a trade from Chicago to Milwaukee at the 2001 Trade Deadline.

According to Baseball-Reference.com, Quevedo’s last professional season was in 2008 with the Tigres de Aragua in the Venezuelan Winter League. The team acknowledged his passing on Twitter, expressing their condolences.

Longtime Brewers bullpen catcher Marcus Hanel recalled Quevedo as a cheerful person, despite frequent teasing about his weight and fitness.

“Everyone joked about his health and weight, but he was a good guy,” Hanel said. “He handled the teasing pretty well.”

The most notable incident occurred during the 2002 Spring Training when then-pitching coach Dave Stewart introduced a daily mile run for pitchers. Quevedo struggled to complete the run on the first day.

“Sadly, it doesn’t surprise me that it was a heart attack, given his health battles,” Hanel said. “It’s a shame. He was a likeable guy.”
