Alabama Postpone Training Camp Press Conference.
Mike Locksley, co-offensive coordinator for Alabama, suffered a devastating loss as his 25-year-old son, Meiko Locksley, was shot and killed in Baltimore. According to local reports, Meiko was found on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
A neighbor described hearing what sounded like a firecracker and then discovering Meiko bleeding on the sidewalk. Multiple 911 calls reported hearing a single gunshot outside the Locksley residence.
At the time of the incident, Mike Locksley was with the Alabama team in Atlanta, where they had just defeated Florida State. Coach Nick Saban confirmed that Locksley has traveled to Maryland to be with his family and expressed the team’s condolences.
Locksley, who was appointed as Alabama’s co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach for the 2017 season, had previously been an offensive analyst for the team in 2016. He had also served as interim head coach at Maryland and was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach there for over three seasons.
Kalen DeBoer Highlighted The Biggest Similarity Between Him And Nick Saban At SEC Media Days – Touchdown Alabama.
No one will ever be able to replace Nick Saban at Alabama, but the Crimson Tide has a head coach who was willing to step into the shoes of a legend.
Saban carried his style for 17 years (2007-23) and it yielded winning results. He was a strict disciplinarian, but he loved his players, assistant coaches and wanted the best for the University of Alabama. Saban’s style propelled the Tide to six national championships, nine Southeastern Conference titles, eight College Football Playoff appearances, four Heisman Memorial Trophy winners, multiple All-Americans and All-SEC players and much more. Kalen DeBoer brings a different style and personality to Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
He played music during spring training, he sets up morning workouts for fall camp, he’s tuned in on social media and he’s brought a different energy to the program. DeBoer, a South Dakota native, is different for Alabama football, but there’s one important quality he and Saban share.
He explained it on Wednesday during SEC Media Days at the Omni Hotel in Dallas, Texas.
