Green Bay Packers fans should keep their phones handy as news of Jordan Love’s new contract could be announced any moment.

According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the deal is expected to be finalized this week, with Love becoming the highest-paid quarterback in the league. During a conversation with Chase Daniel, Russini stated, “I believe Jordan Love is going to be the highest-paid quarterback in football when this does wrap up,” suggesting he will surpass both Trevor Lawrence and Joe Burrow, who currently earn around $55 million annually.

Russini mentioned that final contract details are being ironed out, but both parties are confident that the agreement will be completed soon. This follows Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst’s comments on Monday that a deal is “close” and that Love is holding out for its completion.

Currently, Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence lead the NFL’s highest-paid quarterbacks with an average annual value of $55 million, followed by Jared Goff ($53 million), Justin Herbert ($52.5 million), and Lamar Jackson ($52 million). Typically, new contracts slightly outpace previous ones, making Love’s potential status as the highest-paid quarterback notable given his limited experience.

Drafted in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft, Love’s selection was surprising as the Packers still had Aaron Rodgers. Love became the full-time starter in 2023, completing 64.2 percent of his passes for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, leading the Packers to the playoffs.
