Former University of Washington (UW) head coach Kalen DeBoer has more than doubled his salary by moving to the University of Alabama. His new contract, approved by the University of Alabama Board of Trustees compensation committee, will pay him at least $87 million over eight years, with his salary reaching $11.75 million in the final year, plus $250,000 annual raises. The contract also includes substantial bonuses, such as $600,000 for reaching a national championship game.

DeBoer’s move to Alabama follows his final season at UW, where he earned $4.2 million. His departure was a significant financial upgrade and aligns with Alabama Athletic Director Greg Byrne’s emphasis on investing in top-tier coaches for continued success.

Jedd Fisch, DeBoer’s replacement at UW, also saw a significant salary increase, moving from the University of Arizona to Washington for a 2024 salary of $7.5 million, up from $3.4 million at Arizona.

Despite UW reportedly offering DeBoer around $9 million annually, he chose to join Alabama, motivated by the opportunity to coach at one of the most successful college football programs and succeed legendary coach Nick Saban.
