NFL LATEST ANNOUNCEMENT: An extension for Jordan Love would likely cost the Packers more than $375 million.

Packers QB Jordan Love Dodges Questions About A Contract Extension.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love, who had a stellar 2023 season, is entering the final year of his contract. During a kids’ football camp in Milwaukee on Tuesday, Love mingled with around 600 participants, but avoided answering questions about a potential contract extension. When asked, his public relations handler quickly shut down the interview, and Love walked away smiling.

Both Love and the Packers aim to finalize a deal before the season starts. Love, a first-time starter in 2023, initially struggled but played exceptionally well in the second half, leading Green Bay to win six of their last eight games. Love made all 19 starts, threw 37 touchdowns, and had just 13 interceptions. He completed 64.5% of his passes for 4,625 yards, achieving a 98.5 passer rating. In comparison, Aaron Rodgers had a 93.8 passer rating in his first starting year.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur praised Love’s growth and leadership. Love’s performance improved as he developed chemistry with his young wide receivers, achieving a passer rating above 108.0 in eight of his final ten games.

Determining Love’s contract value is challenging. While quarterbacks like Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence have signed deals worth $275 million over five years, Love’s shorter track record makes his valuation complex. However, his potential upside could place him in a high earning bracket.

Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy commended Love for his perseverance and improvement, highlighting his high-level performance by the end of the season.
