Milwaukee has reached an agreement with a former Yankee relief pitcher.
The Milwaukee Brewers have signed former New York Yankees All-Star third baseman Josh Donaldson to a minor league contract.
Donaldson, who was released by the Yankees to seek new opportunities, will report to Milwaukee’s Triple-A affiliate in Nashville. Although the Brewers are currently leading the NL Central, Donaldson must be in the major leagues by September 1 to be eligible for the postseason roster.
The 37-year-old former MVP had a challenging tenure with the Yankees, posting a .207/.293/.385 slash line with 25 home runs and 77 RBIs over the past two seasons.
The Yankees had acquired him from the Minnesota Twins before the 2022 season, expecting All-Star level performance, but he struggled to meet those expectations. The Yankees paid Donaldson $42 million over the 2022-2023 period.
